Understanding and navigating the UK independent school system can be complicated and competition for places at the most respected schools is highly competitive. The application process varies widely from school to school, but with a wealth of experience we can help you make the right choice for your son or daughter.

To add to the challenge of choosing the right school for your child, each school has a unique character of its own and understanding what a school is really like can be difficult, especially when you are applying from another country and unable to visit before making a decision.

So that we can fully understand the educational goals you have for your child, we offer a free consultation to measure your child’s academic ability and learn about their interests and future academic aspirations. We will outline how we can help your child achieve a successful application to a school that is right for them.

At this stage, once you are happy that we are able to assist you, we will further assess your child depending on their age and school year they wish to apply to. This includes testing in English, Maths, Science and Reasoning skills. For sixth formers applying for A levels, we will also carry out subject specific assessments according to their chosen subjects. We will ask you to provide the most recent school reports and assessments for your child. 

This testing, information and our initial discussion then gives us information to put together a list of schools that we feel will suit your son or daughter. 

This can all be carried out remotely or in person, if you are visiting the UK. The most important aspect of our School Placement Service is finding the right school for your child where they will thrive, both academically and personally.

Each school has a unique application process and we can guide you through this. Because of our extensive knowledge in working in schools across the UK, we can offer you our insight into the different nature and character of the schools you are considering, what they offer students from an academic, pastoral and extra-curricular point of view, which is something often very difficult to judge from the outside.

We can then help you to apply and this includes contacting the school on our behalf, helping your child to prepare for entrance examinations and interviews and taking them on visits to prospective schools if at all possible. Our personal knowledge of schools means we are able to arrange personal tours with the admissions staff, introducing your family to key members of staff including headteachers and registrars, which all helps to strengthen your child’s chance of a successful application.

It is important to plan for the future and we work by putting in place an educational pathway for your child, thinking ahead to where they want to study when they get to university and we always take this into account in terms of our suggestions. We help families to find places at 11+ and 13+ in time to start their GCSE curriculum or at 16+ for A levels or IB. We can also help your son or daughter apply for Foundation courses as a pathway to university application.
