Staying with a host family is an opportunity for students to learn about British culture and practice their English speaking skills, but even more importantly, it is an opportunity to have rest, relaxation and fun during the exeats and half term holidays.
Our students are welcomed as part of the family. Sometimes our students need to stay for longer periods or emergencies and we can ensure they will always stay with a fully vetted, insured, safe and welcoming family.
How do we choose our Host Families?
The answer, quite simply, is we take exceptional care in choosing the families who are going to look after your child in the school holidays. We ask ourselves first and foremost, would we be happy for our own children to stay with a family like this. If the answer to that important question is a yes, then we embark on a rigorous process of screening including safeguarding and security checks. Your child’s safety and happiness is our top priority and only families that meet our highest expectations are accepted.
Our host families all have one thing in common – they have a genuine interest in helping to support students who are here studying from abroad. They may be a family with children or retired, a couple or individual, so there is no one size fits all. The most important thing is they can offer a safe, caring and supportive environment where students feel happy and secure.
All Kitt McArthur host families are subject to stringent screening checks and must comply with the very highest safety standards. We expect a high standard of accommodation for our students and all homes are also inspected annually once a family has joined Kitt McArthur. We follow Safer Recruitment guidance when vetting our families and this process includes the following:
Extensive application form including all household members
Enhanced DBS Criminal Records checks on all household members over 16
Interviews conducted following Safer Recruitment guidance
Rigorous house inspection process
